Ampilox Capsule is a combination antibiotic containing Ampicillin and Cloxacillin. This dual-action formulation provides coverage against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as penicillinase-producing staphylococci, making it a versatile option for mixed bacterial infections.
How It Works: Ampicillin acts against gram-negative organisms by inhibiting cell wall synthesis, while Cloxacillin is a penicillinase-resistant penicillin effective against beta-lactamase-producing Staphylococci. Together, they offer synergistic antibacterial activity against a broader bacterial spectrum.
Common Uses: Ampilox is prescribed for mixed respiratory and ENT infections, skin and soft tissue infections with mixed flora, urinary tract infections, and post-operative and wound infections where polymicrobial coverage is required.
Administration: Ampilox is typically taken on an empty stomach, 30–60 minutes before food. Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage and duration. Do not skip doses or discontinue early without advice from your healthcare provider.
