Coviqueen 400 Tablet contains Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate 400mg, an antimalarial and immunomodulatory agent used for malaria treatment and prevention, as well as disease management in rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
How It Works: Hydroxychloroquine raises lysosomal pH in both plasmodia and immune cells, interfering with haem processing in malaria parasites and suppressing toll-like receptor signaling and inflammatory cytokine production in autoimmune conditions.
Common Uses: Malaria treatment and prophylaxis, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, discoid lupus, and photosensitivity dermatoses.
Administration: Take with food or milk to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Dosing schedules vary by indication. Long-term use requires regular ophthalmologic review to monitor for retinal toxicity.
