How It Works: hCG mimics the natural LH surge, binding to LH receptors on mature follicles to trigger the final maturation and release of the egg (ovulation trigger), and stimulates the corpus luteum to produce progesterone for luteal phase support.
Common Uses: Ovulation triggering in IVF/ICSI cycles and intrauterine insemination (IUI), luteal phase support, treatment of anovulatory infertility, and ovulation induction following gonadotropin stimulation.
Administration: Administered by intramuscular or subcutaneous injection by a healthcare professional or trained patient under medical supervision. Timing is precisely coordinated with follicle monitoring — typically given 34–36 hours before scheduled egg retrieval or intercourse.
