How It Works: At 1%, fluorouracil inhibits thymidylate synthase in dysplastic epidermal cells with lower intensity than the 5% formulation, making it suitable for facial and sensitive-area treatment with reduced irritation.
Common Uses: Actinic keratoses on the face and sensitive areas, multiple flat keratoses, and as maintenance therapy for patients who have completed 5% treatment.
Administration: Apply once or twice daily as directed. Use a thin layer on affected areas only. Avoid eyes and mucous membranes. Continue for the full prescribed course.
Storage: Store below 25°C. Do not freeze. Keep tube capped. Store away from children and direct sunlight.
