How It Works: Ivermectin targets glutamate-gated chloride channels unique to invertebrate physiology, causing sustained activation, ionic imbalance, paralysis, and death of susceptible nematodes, filariae, and ectoparasites.
Common Uses: Intestinal and cutaneous strongyloidiasis, river blindness, lymphatic filariasis, classical and crusted scabies, and pediculosis capitis.
Administration: Take on an empty stomach with water as a single dose. Your physician will calculate the tablet count based on body weight. Scabies typically requires a second dose 2 weeks later.
