Niclobest 500mg Tablet contains Niclosamide 500mg, an anthelmintic agent specifically effective against tapeworm infections, offering an oral treatment alternative to praziquantel for certain cestode infections.
How It Works: Niclosamide inhibits oxidative phosphorylation and glucose uptake in the mitochondria of tapeworm segments (proglottids), causing energy deprivation, paralysis of the scolex, and detachment from the intestinal wall.
Common Uses: Taeniasis (beef and pork tapeworm), Diphyllobothrium latum (fish tapeworm), Hymenolepis nana (dwarf tapeworm), and other susceptible cestode infections.
Administration: Chew tablets thoroughly or crush and mix with water before swallowing. Take as a single dose or over 2 days as directed. A laxative after dosing may be prescribed to aid worm expulsion.
