Orni 500 Tablet contains Ornidazole 500mg, a third-generation nitroimidazole antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent. It is considered an effective alternative to Metronidazole and is associated with a lower risk of certain side effects, making it a preferred choice for treating anaerobic and protozoal infections.
How It Works: Ornidazole undergoes reduction within anaerobic and protozoal cells to generate reactive nitrogen species that damage microbial DNA. This disruption halts replication in susceptible organisms, effectively clearing the infection over the prescribed treatment period.
Common Uses: Orni 500 is prescribed for trichomoniasis and bacterial vaginosis, intestinal and hepatic amebiasis, giardiasis, and pre- and post-operative prophylaxis against anaerobic infection as directed by your healthcare provider.
Administration: Orni 500 is generally taken once or twice daily depending on the indication. It can be taken with food to reduce gastric discomfort. Avoid alcohol during treatment. Always complete the full course as directed by your physician.
