Secnil Forte 1000 Mg Tablet contains Secnidazole 1000mg, a second-generation nitroimidazole antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent. Available as a high-strength formulation, it provides a convenient therapeutic option for certain parasitic and anaerobic bacterial infections with simplified dosing.
How It Works: Secnidazole's nitro group undergoes intracellular reduction by anaerobic organisms, producing reactive intermediates that damage microbial DNA structure. This results in strand breakage and cellular death of susceptible anaerobes and protozoa.
Common Uses: Secnil Forte is prescribed for bacterial vaginosis and vaginal trichomoniasis, intestinal amebiasis and amebic liver abscess, giardiasis caused by Giardia lamblia, and anaerobic bacterial infections as determined by a physician.
Administration: Secnil Forte 1000mg is typically administered as a single 2g dose or as directed for specific indications. It is best taken with food to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort. Avoid alcohol during treatment and for 24 hours after the last dose.
