Vitilex 150 MG Tablet contains Diethylcarbamazine (DEC) 150mg, an antiparasitic agent used in the treatment and prevention of lymphatic filariasis and other filarial infections, and a key drug in WHO-recommended mass drug administration programs.
How It Works: DEC immobilizes microfilariae by altering their surface properties and making them susceptible to host immune clearance, while also exerting direct macrofilaricidal activity against adult worms in lymphatic filariasis.
Common Uses: Lymphatic filariasis (Wuchereria bancrofti, Brugia malayi), tropical pulmonary eosinophilia, loiasis (with caution), and mass deworming programs for filariasis elimination.
Administration: Take orally with or after food. Dosing is weight-based over a 12-day course or as prescribed. Single-dose combination with albendazole is used in MDA programs for filariasis.
Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
