Vitilex 50 MG Tablet contains Diethylcarbamazine (DEC) 50mg, a low-dose formulation for pediatric dosing, dose initiation, or dose-adjusted filariasis treatment in patients requiring careful DEC titration.
How It Works: DEC sensitizes microfilariae to host immune destruction and exerts direct filaricidal effects on adult Wuchereria bancrofti and Brugia malayi worms residing in lymphatic vessels.
Common Uses: Pediatric lymphatic filariasis therapy, initial dose titration before full DEC courses, tropical pulmonary eosinophilia, and combination MDA regimens for filariasis control.
Administration: Take with food to minimize gastrointestinal side effects. Dose is weight-based. Pediatric dosing must be carefully calculated by a physician. Follow the complete prescribed course.
